The C-Reactive Protein (CRP) Test measures the level of C-reactive protein, a substance produced by the liver in response to inflammation in the body. Elevated CRP levels can indicate the presence of inflammation caused by infections, autoimmune diseases, tissue injury, or other inflammatory conditions.

• Other Instructions: Fasting is generally not required for a standard CRP test unless your healthcare provider has requested additional fasting blood tests.
  Inform your healthcare provider if you have a recent infection, injury, surgery, vaccination, or chronic inflammatory condition, as these may temporarily increase CRP levels.
  Tell your healthcare provider about any medications you are taking, especially anti-inflammatory drugs, corticosteroids, or immunosuppressive medications, as they may affect your results.
  If you are having an hs-CRP test for cardiovascular risk assessment, ensure your healthcare provider is aware of any recent illness, as acute infections can temporarily elevate CRP levels and affect the interpretation.
  Your CRP result should always be interpreted alongside your symptoms, medical history, and other laboratory tests to identify the cause of inflammation accurately.
